Review: Installation Circles

With the installations by STUDIO DESSí, Raw-Edges Design Studio and VANTOT, The Circles - the new content and event platforms at imm cologne - will have an outstanding design quality that will make them the focal points of the trade fair and the entire furnishing world. The internationally renowned design studios present their ideas of light, material and hospitality in sculptural installations that are sensual, conceptually strong and sustainable. The objects spiral upwards on a circular, compact surface, inviting visitors to explore, pause and enjoy from afar. They offer inspiration on the three themes of "Welcome to Stay" (by STUDIO DESSí), "Sense of Surface" (by Raw-Edges Design Studio) and "Impact of Light" (by VANTOT), making the Circles a meeting place where business, inspiration and networking come together naturally.

For all designers, sustainability is the key premise for the Circles installation

Less material is VANTOT's approach - for their design as well as for their sustainability goals. Raw-Edges Design Studio also seek to reduce material and energy consumption to a minimum. "This installation is one of the first after a long period of corona-related restraint, during which we focused on product development," explains Yael Mer from Raw-Edges. "We are full of energy and delightful anticipation for the event and want to really enjoy it. We have used it as an opportunity to develop new designs. An installation that leaves nothing but garbage behind after just a few days, because the materials have to be disposed of would spoil our enjoyment. For this reason alone, we only use materials that are recycled or reused." STUDIO DESSí, on the other hand, uses inflatable elements and borrowed semi-finished products that are returned to the construction sector after the trade fair. The exhibition stand construction for the Circles installation is therefore all about circular systems and resource conservation.
