Topic: Dutch brands unite for sustainability
A group of Dutch furniture brands (Arco, CS Rugs, Gelderland, Label van den Berg, Lande Family and Leolux) have banded together to reveal how they are grappling with a common goal: achieving sustainability in our living environment. An exercise in transparency and knowledge-sharing, underpinned by concrete examples of actions and case studies, their joint exhibition, entitled "Future > Factory > Furniture >", which is being shown at imm cologne, is a welcome counterpoint to the greenwashing that, alas, still exists to a large extent in our industry.
Time: 3:00 p.m.
Speaker: Stefan Diez
Topic: What's mine is yours: circularity and the sharing economy
Renowned German industrial designer Stefan Diez, like many, is committed to making the product chain circular. But his deep experience of working with manufacturing clients has convinced him that without the right business model behind it, it will never succeed. We need to adopt a holistic approach, one that involves policy-makers, designers and, of course, end-users – where the latter not only choose well and look after what they buy (or, indeed, rent), but also are encouraged to engage in a sharing economy.
