Beds from filigree to natural
There are certainly many things we can do without at your home – but a bed is certainly not one of them. But it is not just the place where we are looking for sleep and relaxation and hopefully find it. We also read, chat, have breakfast and sometimes even work in bed.

Just as people’s needs vary widely, so too do beds themselves, and many particularly beautiful examples could again be discovered at the imm cologne 2019 – from simple and purist to timelessly modern and elegantly curved. In our blog, we present you some interesting beds.
Rich in contrasts but filigree
The mell bed: striking and elegant. Photo: interlübke
The mell bed takes the lead role in the range of the same name from interlübke, with the soft contours of the upholstery appearing to balance on striking metal rails, whose rounded edges have a highly decorative effet. The upholstered bed, which stands on a slender metal frame – in either shiny chrome or matt lacquer – is available in various shades and can be covered with fabric or leather. The ergonomically comfortable headboard in different heights also allows for customisation. The bed is accompanied by a bedside cabinet (floor-standing or with a base) and matching upholstered bench.
Made for simply good-quality sleep
No frills. Bed Zians of objects of our days.photo: objects of our days
The Zians bed from Objekte unserer Tage is entirely free of unnecessary ornament. The design is focused on the essential functions of a bed: simply good-quality sleep. Its clear form represents a solid foundation for a bed that stands alone like an island of safety. The wood – oiled ash or oiled oak – is the ideal choice for a visual and haptic contrast to the soft mounds of bedcovers, while also bringing nature into the bedroom.
A classic modern look
Timeless and modern: Purebeds Ell. Photo: Schramm
The kaschkasch team from Cologne is known for its intelligent, modular designs and pieces that stand the test of time. For the designer collection of Purebeds box-spring beds from Schramm, designers Florian Kallus and Sebastian Schneider created a timeless, yet contemporary, classic. The highlight of the Purebeds Ell is its one-piece, fully removable fabric cover, which is available in several colour variants. A barely visible tuck around the edge serves to emphasise the design’s straight lines. Purebeds Ell can be supplied with or without attached bedside tables, the fixings for which disappear discretely under the fabric cover. The tables can also be ordered separately.
Feel-good bed in a slatted-cocoon design

Despite the impressive strength of the material, the carefully crafted, rounded slat design lends Birkenstock’s Zürich solid wood bed a lightweight appearance. At the same time, the headrest’s inward-curving sides provide a down-to-earth feeling of security. The Zürich bed is constructed entirely of native oak, finished only with natural oils. Since its base is divided down the middle, this box-spring bed is able to take into account the individual sleeping requirements of two people. The practical push-fit system, in which the console is simply inserted into the spaces between the slots at a customisable height, will in future also make it possible to integrate a bedside crib in order to extend the Zürich to make a family bed.
