Das Apartment HAUS – the designers
The imm cologne will be the first interiors trade fair to enter into the "new normality" in January – with at least one highlight: after ten years, Das Haus is getting an update. Three designers or design teams have been invited to realise the transformation process: Luca Nichetto, Sebastian Herkner and Studio Truly Truly. They will design the anniversary edition with innovative interior design solutions for modern living in apartments and co-living areas.

Contemporary and future-oriented
Das Haus at imm cologne has always been a place of encounter. How we perceive living space changes constantly, and not just since corona: mobility, increasing urban density and the search for forms of living that allow both permeability and seclusion equally pose new challenges for architecture and interior design. Das Apartment HAUS 2021 should bring forth contemporary concepts that enable temporary living in a mixture of private sphere and protected common space.
For this reason, the experimental platform for interior design will in 2021 be devoted to a future issue with an increasing impact on urban development: long and short-stay apartments. They stand for a new segment for the interiors business.
Major global players: the designers
As designers of the houses from the years 2013, 2016 and 2019, Luca Nichetto, Sebastian Herkner and Kate & Joel Booy (Studio Truly Truly) created spaces that opened up living to nature and the outside world, or defined it as a multi-functional space that reflects moods – for sociability or retreat, sometimes sensual, sometimes minimalist, sometimes with walls of plants or of curtains, straight-lined or round.
Creative Director Dick Spierenburg anticipates not only insights with regard to pioneering concepts and original interior designs in 2021 for the design project he has been curating for 10 years: "It will also be interesting to see the extent to which Das Apartment HAUS reflects the personal development of designers, whose characteristic works we remember so well from previous years."
