Hybrid Interior Design: a new concept for living space
A few decades ago, living spaces were associated exclusively with home life, rest and relaxation, and working life was confined to the office. It was the norm for each room to be assigned a specific purpose: people cooked in the kitchen, slept in the bedroom and spent their leisure time in the living room. Architects and interior designers had to adhere to strict rules, but these rules are long gone. The boundaries between living, sleeping and cooking are now blurred and many people do their job from their own home.
At ORGATEC, a complete hall concept was dedicated to the Hybrid Interior Design theme. Inspiring interiors and presentations from the entire spectrum of interior decoration were presented to an international specialist audience in Hall 5.2. High-end companies such as Walter Knoll, Cor, Grau and Sattler showcased their latest collections, models, materials and colours to visiting architects and design professionals in a conceptually oriented environment.
Although, on the whole, ORGATEC focuses on the future of the work environment, Hall 5.2 pursued a wider approach in its concept and the ranges on display, and it allocated space to companies combining furnishings for living, hospitality and office in their collections,“ explains Dick Spierenburg, Creative Director of ORGATEC. “Hybrid room concepts are key for a sustainable design. It’s all about adaptable and versatile architecture and flexible interior design. Around 50,000 international ORGATEC visitors were able to experience this trend in Hall 5.2.“
Alongside the exhibition areas, visitors were able to learn about premium brands and design-oriented products in the framework of the CIRCLE concept in Hall 5.2. With a clear focus on the areas of hospitality and residential, office and outdoor, a unique platform for high-quality products and innovative designs was created, lending the sector a whole new profile.
